How to become a Volunteer.

It is very easy to become a Volunteer with Sligo Animal Rescue. All you need to do is contact us by E-mail. There are 3 different types of Volunteers in Sligo Animal Rescue, these are listed below. Read through each one to find out which suits you. Becoming a volunteer which works with animals, requires commitment and a certain level of animal background, and so we feel that any volunteer under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a person over 18 years of age.
Becoming a volunteer with Sligo Animal Rescue will be done on a one month trial basis, which means that you have one month to show to the group your commitment and care for animals. As you know from reading our rescue files if you become a rescue volunteer, you will be trained in by a member of the group and again giving a one month trial basis. This gives one the opportunity to see if they are suited to the role.

AT PRESENT FUNDRAISING VOLUNTEERS AND RESCUE VOLUNTEERS ARE MOST NEEDED.

What is a Rescue Volunteer?

A rescue Volunteer will help in the Rescuing of animals and bringing them back to the holding to be looked after. You will be supplied with the required equipment and will be trained before rescuing on your own. Our aim is that we will have enough rescue volunteers spread across the county that no one will have to travel to far, e.g. ,Grange to Enniscrone.

What is a Shelter Volunteer?

As we don't have a main base most of our rescued Cats/Dogs are at boarding facilities before being rehomed ,or taken to our own homes. As such we don't have a need for shelter volunteers still, but our need is great  in getting  more. 'on the ground' volunteers on rescue calls.

What is a Fundraising Volunteer?

A fundraising volunteer is a person that helps in running fundraising events and collects money boxes from shops etc... This type of volunteer has to be over the age of 18 and must be a  trusted member of the group.
